MARION’S
STORY
“MicroAce changed my life- I
have now returned to being an independent Wife and
Mother. And I can easily do all the things in life others take
for granted”.
Marion is a registered Nurse from a very large family in
England. She has 6 children and her Mother in law has 68 grand
children. Before Marion began suffering with osteoarthritis and
fybromyagla 3 years ago she had worked with terminally ill
cancer patients for 17 years.
Her family commitments at that time where her husband who worked
full time, her youngest child who was only 7 and her other
children who where 9, 11, 18, 20 and 22. Coping with chronic
arthritis put a lot of limitations on her life.
In 1999 she had to change jobs and seek a position in a much
less physically demanding role because of her condition.. Marion
began working at a local playgroup for small children. Whilst
working in her new role she was forced to take leave, 4 months
in the 1st year and 6 months in the 2nd year because of the
arthritis.
Up until December / January 2002 Marion couldn’t dress or bathe
herself, she couldn’t go shopping on her own, couldn’t drive her
own car and even lifting the kettle was a strain. Marion’s
husband used to have to move her in the night from the bed to
the chair to assist her with sleeping. Even then she would only
sleep a maximum of 4 hours because of the pain. She could only
walk very short distances aided by 2 sticks and even then her
pace was very slow.

She visited her doctor to ask for help but he could only
prescribe yet more tablets; by this stage she was already taking
up to 20 tablets a day including anti depressants, sleeping
tablets, anti-inflammatory and pain killers. Marion had to pay
£24 each month herself for the new tablets on top of the
hundreds of pounds that the health service was already paying
for her monthly medication. All these tablets didn’t cure the
pain, they just used to make Marion feel very drowsy and “like a
Zombie”.
Marion had acupuncture, aromatherapy or physiotherapy sessions
to ease the pain at £20 an hour and she sometimes needed 8 a
month (2 a week). In total, she had to pay £184 per month
herself for treatments and pills.
Marion had a tried a ‘Pain Gone’ pen which cost £70. She used it
for the children when they had headaches and toothache but it
failed to provide permanent relief to her aches and pains. She
had previously tried a TENS machine which cost £70 and found
that there was no long-term pain relief but there was limited
relief when the device was strapped to her body.
All the drugs and devices Marion had tried had all failed to
provide her with any quality of life.
Marion was then persuaded by a friend to try MicroAce. A close
friend of her husband had been asked to provide a case study on
a patient in Marion’s condition and after exhausting everything
else she decided to ‘give MicroAce a go!’ The device arrived
with a video and an easy to follow instruction manual. She began
to use MicroAce once in the morning and once at night for
maximum benefit as relayed in the instructions and on the video.
On the 3rd week of using the MicroAce device twice a day Marion
didn’t feel any better and phoned her friend to ask how long it
was going to take. Her friend was aware that this machine helped
to trigger the natural fight back against arthritis but took a
while longer in older patients and those with very severe pain
and he managed to persuade Marion to keep on trying.
On the 5th week of using the machine Marion began to feel better
in herself and started to take small steps, on her own at first
by bathing and dressing herself and then by walking with her
husband. One evening she managed to walk 1.5 miles unassisted in
the snow, something she always loved doing. She couldn’t believe
how many other methods of pain relief she had tried without any
benefit over the past 2 years and yet this machine she had been
given to try had given her back independence and freedom. Her
quality of life was increasing daily.
Since feeling the benefits MicroAce has provided, Marion only
uses the machine once a day, and twice when she can. She now
only takes 4 tablets maximum a day prescribed by the doctor with
a cost of £6 a month with no need to take inflammatory tablets.
Marion now uses the MicroAce’s drainage programme when she
notices any swelling. Marion is sleeping 6-7 hours a night in
bed with no need to wake her husband. She can go for walks with
her family and is looking forward to knitting and crocheting a
few of her passions which she had to give up because her fingers
where always too swollen.
